Jeanne Sapon – President
Ms. Sapon has more than 30 years’ experience in business development for the A/E/C industry in Phoenix. For the last five years, she has served as Business Development Manager for DBA Construction, Inc., a heavy civil construction firm based in Phoenix. Prior to that, she worked for Austin Bridge & Road (no longer operating in Arizona) and Sundt Construction. Educated in California, she attended Occidental College and moved to Arizona in 1979. Ms. Sapon is married and has two sons, Nicholas – 23 and Terrence – 34, both of whom still live in the Phoenix area, and two grandsons. When she isn’t working, Jeanne likes to play golf, hike and photograph wildlife.
Craig Snelson – Vice President
Mr. Snelson has achieved 31 years in the utility construction industry specializing in all aspects of dry utilities construction, primarily telecommunications and power. Starting at the age of 19 as a laborer and quickly promoted up the ranks, Craig has held numerous management positions as well as being a business owner specializing in underground utilities construction. Currently employed as Arizona Operations Manager for Tetra Tech since January 2015, he is responsible for 80 employees and $15M in annual revenue. Craig is certified in most industry specific areas and is an Arizona licensed contractor and qualifying party for Tetra Tech licenses in Arizona and New Mexico. Craig has been married for 30 years with 3 children ages 27, 23, and 17. Hobbies include boating, hiking and golf.
Justin Platchek – Secretary/Treasurer
Mr. Platchek is the General Manager of BPG Designs, LLC based in Tempe, Arizona. He started his career with the US Air Force, in the 944th Fighter Wing, Civil Engineering Squadron . Justin joined the company in 2006, he worked his way through the various departments in the company, developing a deep knowledge of all aspects of the company’s operations. With each new position, he acquired additional responsibilities that contributed his knowledge and leadership skills. Justin’s work ethic, dedication and ability to successfully complete challenging projects led to his appointment as General Manager in 2012. Today, Justin oversees all facets of the day to day operations of the company, including the designs, construction, mapping, and administrative functions. He is involved in community activities and dedicates his time to charitable causes. In his spare time, he spends time with his wife and son. He enjoys golfing, deep sea fishing and spending time in the dunes.
Bill Tippett – Past President
Since founding the company in 1988, Bill is President of Networx Cabling Systems, Inc. (dba NCS, Inc.), based in Camp Verde, AZ. He holds a BA and MBA from the University of Arizona and is certified in most industry specific areas (competent person, OSHA 10 hour, etc.). Raised in Yuma, AZ, Bill currently resides in Camp Verde with his wife Nancy of 26 years and has two sons, Alec and Jack, who both work for their father’s company.
Jared’s passion for construction began in his early years as a professional framer for a custom home builder. His transition to consulting construction clients as a CPA was a natural one. Those experiences, including professional relationships he has built with bond agents, surety managers, and bankers have provided a valuable and extensive knowledge of the challenges contractors face each day and implementation of the best practices to solve those challenges. In his spare time, he spends time with his wife of 18 years and their 4 children, usually attending sporting events and traveling.
Clinton Overton – Director
Clint Overton has been working with Utilities for over 11 years with VW Connect whose purpose is to “bring utilities to every home.” He has a unique affinity for energy. He studies it and seeks to understand how energy works and how it impacts our society. His love and motivation are his wife and children. He has been married too his stunning, intelligent wife for 13 years. He has 4 beautiful girls with another child on the way.
Kyle Pieratt – Director
Kyle Pieratt is the President and principal owner of Vermeer Sales Southwest, Inc. Kyle joined the organization in December of 2000 and spent the majority of his time focused on the Sales and Administrative side of the business. In May of 2017, he took of over as President and CEO after acquiring all the shares of his then business partner, Bo Adams. Today, Vermeer Sales Southwest has four locations in Gilbert, Las Vegas, Albuquerque, and El Paso and 50 team members. Kyle is a member of the North American Vermeer Dealers Association, Far West Equipment Dealers, and Association of Equipment Dealers. Kyle has a B.S. in Finance and Marketing, and a MBA from W.P. Carey School of Business at Arizona State University. Kyle has two children Gavin (9) and Campbell (8) and is married to his wife Kendra. They live in the east valley. Kyle enjoys playing golf and spending time with the family and friends.
Andrew Uster – Director
Andrew has 16 years of commercial insurance experience that ranges from large account underwriting
to working for national and regional brokers. He has experience working with public and private corporations and specializes in construction and real estate. He has expertise in marketing and placement of Property & Casualty insurance products including guaranteed cost and loss sensitive programs. Andrew is active in many carrier/agents counsels and industry conferences. He has developed extensive relationships with national and regional carriers at the management and underwriting levels.
Arvid Veidmark, III – Director
Arvid has been a part of Arizona’s underground utility construction community for nearly his entire life. As the third generation owner of SSC Global, a Phoenix based trenchless technology/vacuum potholing contractor, Arvid grew up in the business running projects in the field before taking over the estimating role in 1995 and now serving as Executive Vice President. Arvid brings his 30+ years of hands on underground and trenchless experience to many construction teams as a consultant, and to the Maricopa Association of Governments as a technical advisor on MAG Spec sections 602 and 608. Outside of the office, Arvid keeps busy with his wife and four children ages 17, 16, 14 and 12. He is an avid outdoorsman, hiker and hunter, as well as sharing his love of archery with youth through volunteer efforts with Saguaro Camp Cedarbrook where he serves as the vice-president on the board of directors. Arvid is also a USA Archery Level 2 certified coach and a USA Archery Judge.
Connie Peretz – AZUCA Executive Director
Connie worked in manufacturing, distribution and installation in the fenestration industry for twenty years prior to joining AZUCA in 2007. Her strengths are recognizing opportunities to bring groups together for mutual benefit and building relationships which aids in collaborative efforts. She serves on multiple industry committees advocating for the utility community in Arizona. It is important to her to give back to the community through volunteering and patronizing local businesses to promote economic growth in Arizona. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with family, reading, and enjoying nature.
